Here we are at the end of the year – and what a successful year this has been.  I am so proud of this group of students!  I know that they will do well in first grade.

Logan wants to be a football player when he grows up and likes to play video games.

Emma wants to be a doctor when she grows up and would like to visit Norway someday.

Clara wants to be a teacher when she grows up and her favorite food is fish.

Myla wants to be a teacher when she grows up and her favorite dessert is cake.

Penelope wants to be a mom when she grows up and her favorite food is pesto pasta. (Yum!)

 Charla Rafn returned with the chicks - can they be called chicks any more? They have grown quite a lot in a few weeks! Not everyone was as eager to hold them this time!

We said good-bye to our high school seniors, Miss Caitlyn and Miss Molly. We wish them both well as they graduate and move on to their college years.

We also said good-bye to our Book Buddies. These are second grade students who came in to read to the children and also listen to them read.

The summer passes quickly but try to find time to have your children practice the skills learned this year. Take advantage of our fantastic library.  Have your child fill out Erieview's Reading Log that was sent home earlier in the month. If you have kept any of the “Little Readers” that were made, have your child reread them periodically.  They contain a good review of sight words. If you allow your child computer time, have them visit some educational websites. Some of my favorites are Starfall, Funbrain, and PBS kids. Find opportunities to count, add, and subtract. Practice writing to review sounds and letter formation. And if you can squeeze it in, find time to work on shoe tying if your child still hasn't mastered this skill. Mostly, read stories together and enjoy these precious years.

Parents, thank you for all your support this year and for sending me such wonderful little people! It has been a special year that I will forever treasure!

What a fun week we had! The week began with the Color Run and we all had a blast! We started out nice and clean and ended looking as though we stepped out of a rainbow.

In math we are finishing up the kindergarten curriculum. Our current math topic has been geometry. We have learned about flat and solid shapes and how we can combine shapes to make new shapes. This group of kindergarteners are such awesome readers and we are practicing often. Friday is the day to read with our Book Buddies. These are second graders who are paired up with my kinders and the children take turns reading to each other. At first, the second graders did most of the reading but now kindergarteners are reading to their second grade Buddy.

We spent some time learning about needs and wants and ended the week with a trip to the West Side Market. Everyone made some delicious purchases! I can't wait to talk about it on Monday.

This week we welcomed two Avon Lake High School seniors into our classroom. They will be with us for 3 weeks. Miss Kaitlyn is a student exploring teaching as a profession. She was with us in September and chose to return to see how much the children have progressed. I am sure she is impressed!! She stays with us for 2 hours, 3 days a week. 

Miss Molly has chosen to do a Senior Project with us, which means she is with us all day. She is also exploring teaching as a profession. Molly was my student when she was in kindergarten at Erieview and now she is ending her school career with me. She has come full circle and has grown into a wonderful young woman. We are lucky to have these two fine ladies spend time with us.

Thank you to Erieview PTA for putting together a fabulous Teacher Appreciation Week! Everything was wonderful!! Here is our classroom door as decorated by Tera, Emma's mom. I LOVE my door and these precious faces!!
